Cabrini – Monash University Department of Medicine - Staff

Michele is the Head of the Cabrini – Monash University Division of Medicine.

Michele has been involved with Cabrini Health for the past 10 years.   After graduating equal first in her year she specialised in Critical Care, which provided her with the opportunity to spend four years working in the USA firstly at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre in New York and then at Duke University at Durham, North Carolina.  Returning to Melbourne she became the Assistant Director of Intensive Care at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, and from 1993 to 1995 she was the Director of Intensive Care at Repatriation General Hospital.  Following a short break to spend more time with her family Michele decided she wanted her career to change direction and she moved into the area of General Medicine.  This career change provided the opportunity for Michele to become involved in student teaching. 

Education is a passion for Michele and she believes that her involvement in medical student teaching provides the opportunity to make a difference to the way students view medicine and to assist them in the development of clinical reasoning. Michele is excited about the opportunities within the position and is looking forward to contributing to the development of clinical and academic research excellence within the private sector.
