Cabrini Institute - Human Research Ethics
CHREC is a committee of the Governing Board and reports directly to the Board. The Committee approves and reviews research projects involving human subjects being conducted at Cabrini Health to ensure:
- the research affirms the mission and values of Cabrini Health and the teaching of the Catholic Church.
- that ethical standards are maintained in research projects to protect the interests of the research subjects, the investigator and the institution.
The CHREC conducts its business in accordance with:
- the National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Research Involving Humans issued by the National Health and Medical Research Council in August 1999;
- other relevant federal and state legislation and regulations;
- Catholic Health Australia’s Code of Ethical Standards for Catholic Health and Aged Care Services in Australia.
The CHREC is staffed by Anne Spence (Manager) and Barbara Miles (Administrative Assistant).
