Cabrini Hospital Brighton
Nursing at Cabrini Brighton is multi-faceted. Nurses are trained across a wide range of specialities including:

Headed by its own Director of Nursing, teamwork is the hallmark of nursing at Cabrini Brighton. Each nurse may be rostered to work in either the Overnight Ward or the Short Stay Unit and may well care for several patients, all with different conditions.
The work is both challenging and rewarding, and nurses are supported by Cabrini Health’s range of educational options and its mentorship program.
Palliative
Cabrini Prahran. This purpose-built palliative care centre houses 22 single rooms, and is supported by a team of skilled doctors, nurses, pastoral and social workers, chaplains, counselors, dieticians, pharmacists and physiotherapists.
The Palliative HomeCare service operates from Cabrini Prahran. Palliative care nurse specialists are available on-call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week providing care, support and education to patients and families. Palliative care physicians provide a consultancy service in conjunction with the doctors involved in the patients’ care.
Aged Care
Cabrini Ashwood. Aged Care nurses at Cabrini Ashwood provide care and quality of life for older persons who are no longer able to live in their own home. Cabrini residential care offers nurses opportunities to use all their clinical and interpersonal skills to ensure residents physical and mental health is promoted and optimised.
Residents living at Ashwood have a variety of medical conditions and co-morbidities that require advanced nursing skills - Parkinson’s disease, dementia, end stage cancers, heart disease, stroke, arthritis, diabetes and frailty related to ageing process. Aged care nurses use their extensive experience and skills to assess technical and specialised care requirements, nutrition, pain, skin integrity, continence, cognition, behaviours, and sensory loss.
The information gathered from assessments is used to develop and implement comprehensive holistic care plans in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team, which consists of general practitioners, physiotherapists, lifestyle assistants, pastoral care practitioners, pharmacist and other external allied health and specialist consultants.
Nurses encourage, support and assist residents to retain their personal, civic, legal and consumer rights and to achieve active control of their own lives within the residential care facility and in the community.
Rehabilitation
Cabrini Hopetoun. Cabrini Hopetoun offers rehabilitation with high quality nursing care and in-patient and out-patient programs. Rehabilitation may follow joint replacement surgery, spinal injury or surgery, trauma due to accident or falls, car or work injury, stroke or neurological condition.
The 30-bed hospital offers individualised, comprehensive treatment aimed at restoring patients to optimum mobility. The clinical team includes a rehabilitation physician, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, rehabilitation case managers, registered nurses and allied health professionals including speech pathologists.
Cabrini Hopetoun is furnished with exercise equipment, hydrotherapy pool, occupational therapy kitchen and a mobility garden.
