Heartbeat Cabrini
For patients undergoing cardiac surgery, Heartbeat volunteers provide support and reassurance to patients and families in an effort to alleviate the doubts and fears which may be experienced before and after such surgery. If required, they provide company to spouses during surgery. The volunteers are post-cardiac patients themselves. Upon request, nursing staff can arrange this service for you.
Physiotherapy services
Physiotherapy services are available and will be arranged by your doctor if required.
Pastoral Services
All patients are invited to indicate their religion on the Inpatient Pre-Admission/Admission Form or upon admission.
Pastoral Services encompasses a full range of spiritual and emotional support for patients and relatives.
Services comprise:
- sacramental support, including Holy Communion, which is regularly available for Catholic and Anglican patients and as requested for other denominations
- regular visits from chaplains of many faith traditions
- a ‘listening ear’ and support in helping patients to deal with the experience of being a patient in hospital and all that this entails.
You can find more information on our Pastoral Services page.
Volunteers
Cabrini has an extensive and professional volunteer program. People who wish to support our Mission are given training and an opportunity to work in a chosen area. This may include helping with patients, in administration, with the elderly or within the community. The Manager of Volunteer Services may be contacted on Tel: 9508 1084.
