Patient Information - Day Patients
Your specialist will make the necessary booking for you at the Day Procedure Centre. However, before you arrive, please attend to the following matters prior to admission:
- A Pre-Admission Form needs to be completed and posted, faxed or delivered to the Day Procedure Centre (DPC) at least 48 hours before admission.
- Please telephone the DPC the day before your procedure to confirm your appointment and check your admission time.
- Your specialist will instruct you regarding any special preparation prior to your procedure. Please follow these instructions carefully and do not drink alcohol the day before admission.
- As certain types of anaesthetics may cause drowsiness and impair your mental alertness, please arrange for someone to collect you after your procedure.
- Ensure your health insurance fund membership is up to date and have books/cards ready to bring with you.
- Do not wear make-up, jewellery or nail polish on the day of admission.
What to bring
- Wear loose, comfortable attire
- Health insurance card or verification
- Pharmaceutical entitlement cards
- List of all current medications
- Current medication in their original container/packet
- Medicare card/pension care/Veterans’ Affairs card
- Relevant X-rays, or other imaging scans and pathology reports
- A favourite toy or game (children)
What Not To Bring
- Do not bring valuables or large sums of money
