Ian is the inaugural Director of Radiation Oncology at Cabrini Health. At GenesisCare Cabrini he provides specialist consultative Radiation Oncology opinions and treatment for a range of malignancies including upper gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, pancreatic, colorectal, skin, lymphoma, myeloma and lung cancers.
His special interests include gastrointestinal Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT), Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT) and Stereotactic Radiotherapy for liver, lung, spine and brain malignancies. He was the first Radiation Oncologist in Australasia to use Brainlab/Novalis gated Stereotactic Radiotherapy (SBRT) for treatment of liver tumours.
He completed his undergraduate medical degree at The University of Queensland and subsequently his FRANZCR Fellowship in Radiation Oncology at the Queensland Radium Institute and The William Buckland Radiotherapy Centre in Melbourne. He is a member of Research and Education groups including TROG, AGITG, ESTRO and ASTRO. He is a trials investigator with the Australasian TROG research group, a NHMRC Associate Investigator and an Adjunct Senior Lecturer with the Monash University Department of Surgery.
