SHORT BIO
Dr Ingrid Butterfield undertook her psychiatry training in Canberra after studying medicine in Adelaide and then working in South Australia and Queensland. She has a decade’s experience as a consultant psychiatrist having worked in leadership roles and clinically in both public and private practice.
Ingrid’s clinical work involves holistic mental health care involving both psychotherapy, psychosocial support and medication where necessary. She believes in working with the patients, and where appropriate their families and carers, to achieve the best possible outcome. Ingrid’s expertise includes not only pharmacology across the spectrum of mental health diagnosis but also sub-specialty skills in psychodynamic psychotherapy. She is currently an accredited supervisor for the RANZCP and provides supervision for both basic and advanced trainees in both generalist and psychotherapy areas. In addition to women’s mental health, Ingrid has an interest in the interplay between sleep disorders and mental health.
