Dr Akira Fukutomi

I am a General Adult Psychiatrist with a special interest in anorexia nervosa.

I completed my medical degree at Imperial College London, followed by specialist psychiatry training across West and South London. During this time, I worked in various services such as psychosis, alcohol addiction, personality disorders and undertook extensive training in eating disorders, with the majority of my experience gained at the Maudsley Hospital.

Following completion of my training in London, I worked in Perth, Western Australia, where I played a key role in establishing an eating disorder unit within a women’s mental health facility.

In early 2026, I relocated to Melbourne and I am currently working at the Cabrini Women’s Mental Health Unit located in the Lisa Thurin Women’s Health Centre in Elsternwick, where I provide inpatient care for patients with various mental health disorders.
