Dr Edward Shelton

I am a gastroenterologist with sub-specialty interest in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). I am also interested in irritable bowel syndrome, endoscopy, liver disease, reflux, coeliac disease and iron deficient anaemia.

I hold a public position at Monash Health and consult privately in Kew and Hawthorn. I am the Principal Investigator on IBD clinical trials at Emeritus Research giving my patients access to the latest biologic therapies. I am one of a handful of IBD physicians in Australia who perform intestinal ultrasound.

I completed a Luminal and IBD Fellowship at Monash Health. Following this, I undertook an Advanced IBD Fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston where I held a position as a Research Fellow in Medicine at Harvard University and published research on biologic therapies in IBD. I lecture Monash and Melbourne University medical students and I am an Adjunct Senior Lecturer in the Department of Medicine at Monash University.
