Dr Paul Viray

I am a dual qualified Medical Oncologist and Geriatrician. I am the current Chair of the Geriatric Oncology Community of Practice for the Clinical Oncology Society of Australia (COSA) and an executive member of the geriatric oncology special interest groups in Australia. I was part of the expert working group that wrote the Optimal Care Pathway for Older People with Cancer available online, all with a goal to help optimise the management of older adults with cancer in Australia.

I have trademarked the “Viray-CGA” (a cancer specific comprehensive geriatric assessment), which I use to help optimise both the oncological and geriatric needs of my patients concurrently. I am trained to manage all cancers in any age, but I have a particular focus/priority for seeing older adults with a cancer diagnosis or those needing investigations/assessment for a suspected cancer diagnosis.

I am also happy to see any older adult as an inpatient or in my clinic who may benefit from a general comprehensive geriatric assessment to objectively assess their frailty status, comorbidities, geriatric syndromes (like cognitive impairment and polypharmacy) with an aim to optimise their quality of life and future planning.

I am the Clinical Lead for Geriatrics and Geriatric Oncology Research at Cabrini, and lead the Alzheimers anti-Amyloid Targeted Therapies (AATT) Clinic for the newly available anti-Alzheimer’s Dementia infusions.
