Dr Josh Hurwitz

I am a Medical Oncologist with a special interest in breast and genitourinary cancers. I strongly believe in shared decision-making, with communication, compassion and respect at the centre of every patient interaction. I advocate for my patients and their families, ensuring their individual needs, values and beliefs are considered throughout their care. I am also a principal and sub-investigator in numerous breast and genitourinary cancer clinical trials, providing eligible patients with access to emerging treatment options.

Alongside my clinical practice, I am undertaking a PhD at Monash University focused on metastatic breast cancer. I co-host the podcast Oncology for the Inquisitive Mind and am passionate about educating and training the next generation of specialists.

I completed my specialist training at Liverpool, Bankstown and St Vincent’s Hospitals in Sydney, followed by a fellowship in breast and genitourinary oncology at the Kinghorn Cancer Centre and Garvan Institute of Medical Research under Professors Elgene Lim and Anthony Joshua. I also completed an observership at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston.
