Dr Kavita Kumareswaran

I am an endocrinologist with expertise in type 1 diabetes, including insulin pumps and continuous glucose sensors. I also manage type 2 diabetes, gestational and secondary diabetes, osteoporosis and other bone conditions, obesity and thyroid disorders.

My consulting days are Monday, Wednesday and Friday at Cabrini Malvern. I hold a staff appointment at The Alfred Hospital and an Adjunct Lecturer position at Monash University. I also consult at rooms in the CBD on Thursdays.

My PhD research at the University of Cambridge involved the first randomised controlled studies in adults and children evaluating an ‘artificial pancreas’ for treating type 1 diabetes. This system delivers insulin via a pump in an automated manner based on sensor glucose readings measured in real time.
