I specialise in general cardiac surgery and total arterial revascularization. My sub-specialty interest areas include thoracic surgery, including thoracic oncology via uniportal approach. I am devoted to providing personalised care to all my patients in order to achieve comfort and early recovery. My clinical practice includes: cardiac surgery, coronary artery bypass surgery including beating heart bypass (OPCAB) with total arterial revascularization, atrial fibrillation ablation (MAZE) procedure, pacing and epicardial LV lead placements, thoracic surgery, video assisted minimally invasive thoracoscopic lobectomy and segmentectomy, thoracoscopic mediastinal tumour excision and thymectomy, Bullous lung disease (Lung Volume Reduction Surgery), Pleural Diseases including Mesothelioma Recurrent pneumothorax/ pleurectomy, mediastinoscopy-biopsy, chest wall deformities repair for Pectus excavatum / carinatum and thoracoscopic sympathectomy.
I graduated medical school from the University of Mumbai in 1996. I then obtained my Master of General Surgery in 2000 in Mumbai and my full qualification in Cardiothoracic surgery at the University of Pune, India in 2003. After many years of practice as a consultant cardiothoracic surgeon in India, I pursued further training in Australia where I was awarded my Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of Surgeons in 2016. I trained at the Royal Melbourne Hospital (Adult), Royal Children’s Hospital (Paediatric), Alfred Hospital (Heart & Lung Transplant Surgery) and Monash Hospital. I then practiced as a heart and lung surgeon at the Dunedin Hospital New Zealand, Barwon Health Geelong and Royal Hobart Hospital. I am currently appointed as a consultant cardiothoracic surgeon at Northern Health and St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne.
I have multiple journal publications in heart and lung surgery. I am also an active member of the Academy of Surgical Educators with Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, with an interest in surgical training. I am a college-appointed Supervisor of Surgical Education and Training (SET) in Cardiothoracic Surgery.
