Dr Shavi Fernando

I am an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist.

I graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (Honours) and a Bachelor of Medical Science (First Class Honours) from Monash University. Following my internship at Monash Health, I completed specialist training with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and earned a PhD in infertility and gynaecology, supported by an NHMRC research fellowship.

I provide personalised obstetric and gynaecological care, with expertise in both low and high-risk pregnancies, including VBAC, twin pregnancies, maternal medical conditions and pregnancies following fertility treatment. I am committed to tailoring care to each woman’s individual needs.

I also hold a specialist appointment at Monash Health, where I manage complex obstetric cases, and serve as an Associate Professor at Monash University, helping educate the next generation of obstetricians and gynaecologists while ensuring my practice remains evidence-based and up to date.
