Dr Simon Hew
Gastroenterologist
I am a gastroenterologist and interventional endoscopist with a passion for delivering high-quality endoscopic care. My areas of interest include bowel and gastric cancer screening, pancreatic disease, and advanced endoscopic procedures. I also have extensive experience managing a broad range of gastrointestinal conditions, including liver disease, inflammatory bowel disease, and irritable bowel syndrome.
I graduated with honours from Monash University in 2008 and was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2016. Following my specialist training, I undertook subspecialty training in interventional endoscopy at Monash Health and Austin Health, developing expertise in endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), and complex polypectomy. In 2019–2020, I completed an advanced interventional endoscopy fellowship at Queen’s University in Kingston, Canada, where I gained additional experience in image-enhanced endoscopy and third-space endoscopic procedures.
I currently serve as Deputy Director of Endoscopy at Monash Health and Chair of the Gastrosciences Unit at Jessie McPherson Private Hospital. I am also an Adjunct Lecturer at Monash University and remain actively involved in clinical education, research, and the advancement of endoscopic practice.
