Mr Atsuo Doi

I am a cardiothoracic surgeon with expertise in all aspects of adult cardiac surgery.

I graduated from Chiba University in Japan before commencing my surgical training in Japan and subsequently continuing my career in Singapore and Australia. I have worked at leading institutions including National University Hospital, The Alfred Hospital and Princess Alexandra Hospital. I hold a PhD from Chiba University and am a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, as well as being certified by The Japanese Board of Cardiovascular Surgery.

My special interests include the surgical management of heart failure, including temporary and durable mechanical circulatory support, heart and lung transplantation, complex aortic surgery including the Ross procedure, pulmonary endarterectomy for chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension, and endoscopic vein harvesting.

Since 2018, I have worked as a consultant cardiothoracic surgeon at The Alfred Hospital, where I am actively involved in specialist training, education and clinical research. I also consult and operate at Cabrini.
