About the Program

The Cabrini Osteo Program is an outpatient rehabilitation service that specialises in improving the self-management of Osteopenia or Osteoporosis.

The overall goal is to help improve your understanding of the condition and work with collaboratively to develop an effective exercise program to manage it. This aim is to improve confidence, quality of life and overall happiness.

The program is suitable for people with diagnosed osteopenia or osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is largely a silent disease that goes unnoticed until diagnosis. As a result, sometimes diagnosis is unexpected and presents new issues and challenges.

With the right support, most people can manage effectively. Research indicates the best treatment for osteoporosis is a team-based approach in conjunction with medical management to address individual risk factors.

The Cabrini Osteo Program team work with patients to develop a successful long-term self-management plan aimed at minimising these risk factors and supporting overall quality of life.

Our team includes:

  • Rehabilitation consultant
  • Physiotherapist
  • Health psychologist
  • Dietitian

You can participate in an individual or group-based program as you require.

How does the program work?

The program will involve you attending appointments at our rehabilitation site twice weekly for several weeks. At these appointments you will participate in an individually tailored exercise program alongside other people with osteoporosis.

You will also learn information important in empowering and supporting you to effectively manage your osteoporosis.

The team will monitor your progress using evidence-based assessments and will review and modify your program as required.
