Biography

Dr David Chieng is  a cardiologist who specialises in the management of heart rhythm disturbances, including cardiac arrhythmia ablation (SVT, atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, ventricular tachycardia) and cardiac device implantation (pacemaker, defibrillator, cardiac resynchronisation therapy).

Dr Chieng  also manages other adult cardiovascular conditions, including cardiovascular risk assessment, coronary artery disease, and congestive cardiac failure. He  holds public appointments at the Alfred, and Latrobe Regional Hospital, where he is the director of cardiac rhythm management. Dr Chieng consults privately at Cabrini Malvern.

Dr Chieng obtained his medical degree under the prestigious SWANS scholarship through the University of Western Australia

He  completed  his postgraduate cardiology training in Perth, followed by a four-year clinical fellowship training in electrophysiology and pacing (2019-2022) at The Alfred and Royal Melbourne Hospital.

In addition to Dr Chieng’s clinical experience, he has extensive research and academic experience in the field of cardiology. He has received numerous awards and scholarships, including the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute’s Paul Korner Medal for outstanding PhD achievements.
