TOPIC: Paediatric Update – Febrile children in the General Practice setting and, Infant feeding issues and Acute Paediatric medical issues.

- Describe which children with acute medical illnesses are appropriate to refer to the Paediatric Assessment Review Clinic (PARC).
- Discuss the importance of education and reassurance for families whose children have infant feeding issues and unsettledness.
- Identify red flags and recognise serious causes of fever in children presenting to primary care settings.
Dr Linny Phuong, Paediatric Infectious Disease Physician
Biography
Dr Linny Phuong is a Paediatric Infectious Diseases Physician who currently works at Cabrini, the Royal Children’s Hospital and Murdoch Children’s Research Institute. Dr Phuong has experience in managing infections in children of all ages from birth through to adolescence.
Dr Phuong is available for inpatient consults as well as outpatient reviews at Cabrini Malvern at the Mother Baby Centre.
Dr Phuong is an active researcher contributing to the paediatric infectious diseases and vaccination literature. Her current research interests include Group A and pneumococcal streptococcal infections, Kawasaki disease and immunisation. Dr Phuong is currently completing a PhD with the University of Melbourne, Department of Paediatrics on the topic of risk factors in invasive pneumococcal.
Dr Veronica Cerratti – Paediatric General Physician
Biography
Dr Veronica Cerratti is a dedicated general paediatrician with specialist training in neonatal intensive care and early childhood development. Dr Cerratti is currently pursuing a PhD focused on advancing understanding and treatment for infants with feeding difficulties.
Dr Cerratti provides a compassionate holistic approach to the wellbeing of young patients and supports their families though the challenges of early childhood health issues.
