A/Prof Fran Milat

I am an endocrinologist and researcher with expertise in osteoporosis, metabolic bone disorders, and women’s health. I currently hold multiple leadership roles at Monash Health, including Deputy Head of the Department of Endocrinology and Head of the Metabolic Bone Service.

I am also Head of the Metabolic Bone Research Group at the Hudson Institute, where I lead a research program focused on bone health in chronic disease and osteoporosis in young adults. I have extensive experience in leading clinical guideline development and serve on multiple national and international committees, advocating for excellence in endocrine practice, research, and education.

I have been honoured to receive several awards, including the Endocrine Society of Australia Outstanding Clinical Practitioner Award, the Australian and New Zealand Bone and Mineral Society Kaye Ibbertson Award, the Endocrine Society of Australia Mid-Career Award, and the Senior Medical Staff Role Model Award from Monash Health.

In addition to my clinical and research roles, I have a strong interest in medical teaching, the medical humanities, and narrative medicine.
