Dr Matthew Claydon

I am a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in both General Surgery and Vascular Surgery, and I have completed the Diploma of Diagnostic Ultrasound (Part I).

I am dedicated to providing prompt, reliable, and effective care, coupled with clear communication and support. I understand that the prospect of surgery can be daunting, and my mission is to deliver exceptional care tailored to each patient’s needs. By utilising non-operative management, traditional techniques, and minimally invasive procedures, I strive to ensure the best possible outcomes for every individual under my care.

I specialise in diagnosing, treating, and preventing arterial and venous diseases. My training in Perth, the United Kingdom, and Melbourne has provided me with expertise in both traditional open surgery and innovative minimally invasive techniques.
I’m experienced in managing a wide variety of conditions, such as carotid stenoses for stroke prevention, arterial occlusive disease, diabetic foot care, limb salvage, and arterial aneurysms. I also treat venous disorders such as varicose and spider veins through both conventional surgery and advanced minimally invasive treatments. I have a special interest in spinal exposure surgery, thoracic outlet syndrome, and arterial entrapment conditions often seen in athletes.

Beyond surgery, I am actively involved in research and education. I’ve published numerous surgical articles and have shared my insights at scientific conferences globally. Previously, I had the honour of convening the vascular section of the Annual Congress of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.

I am an Examiner for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons for both Part I (entry) and Part II (final exit) vascular examinations, contributing to the next generation of skilled surgeons.
