Cabrini ED supporting SMJFL

04/04/2019

*Cabrini Emergency*[https://www.cabrini.com.au/patients-and-families/services/directory/emergency-department] is pleased to have partnered with the South Metro Junior Football League (SMJFL) for its 2019 season.

Cabrini will subsidise 50 per cent of any SMJFL player’s visit to the Emergency Department throughout the 2019 season. The partnership provides players, umpires and spectators with reliable and sound medical care if injured during a match.

Cabrini is also offering a follow-up bulk-billed Sports Physician visit for any SMJFL player who has attended the Emergency Department on a weekend.

Cabrini Emergency Department Director Dr Michael Ben-Meir said it was a partnership that provided players and their families with peace of mind that they would be looked after in the event of an emergency on the field.

“We are excited to be partnering with the SMJFL, its 25 clubs, 11,500 footballers and their families. Cabrini Emergency and SMJFL are both vital organisations in Melbourne’s South East and both believe in the health benefits of participation in sport” Dr Ben-Meir said.

“As with any sport, accidents and injuries happen and we want to make sure each junior footballer is looked after so they can return to the game we all love as soon as possible.”

“Cabrini understands the importance of keeping all players in their best form, which is why we are offering this first of its kind service, where all SMJFL footballers will receive a 50 per cent discount on their attendance at our Emergency Department and a bulk billed Sports Physician follow-up visit on the Monday.”

SMJFL Business Operations Manager Toby Boyle said he was delighted with the partnership, officially commencing at the 2019 SMJFL Season Launch.

“The SMJFL is acutely aware that injures do occur in our game,” Mr Boyle said.

“While we would prefer not to see players succumbing to injury, it is comforting to know that they have subsidised access to an Emergency Department that is nearby and provides exceptional care for patients.”

“The partnership with Cabrini Emergency Department will extend our commitment to promoting wellbeing within the SMJFL.”

One of the partnership initiatives will see all SMJFL Club Trainers carry the Cabrini Emergency logo on Trainer Bibs for the 2019 season.

As well as the Trainer Bibs, Cabrini will be providing all SMJFL clubs with informative posters to assist injured players and their families with advice and directions to the *Cabrini Emergency Department.*[https://www.cabrini.com.au/patients-and-families/services/directory/emergency-department]
