Cabrini General Practice in Caulfield South has received the tick of approval, receiving a national award of accreditation for its commitment to quality and safety.

In order to achieve accreditation, a practice must implement the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) standards for general practices, which is a template for quality care and risk management.

For patients, this means they can be confident about the standard of safety and care provided by Cabrini General Practice.

Areas of focus include, ensuring vaccines are within their use-by-date and stored at the correct temperatures, practice equipment is clean and sterile, practice staff are up-to-date with their training and that emergency care is available.

Accreditation was developed jointly by the Australian General Practice Accreditation Limited (AGPAL) and primary health organisations and peak bodies, including the Australian Medical Association (AMA).

Cabrini Chief Executive Dr Michael Walsh said the accreditation would provide further certainty and assurance of the high safety and care standards at the General Practice.

“We want community members and patients of our practice to know their wellbeing is our priority,” he said.

“By choosing to attend an accredited practice, patients know they will get quality care that meets the RACGP Standards.

“I hope this accreditation makes our patients feel safe and gives them peace of mind about the high standard of care we provide. I hope it encourages more people to book an appointment with us.”

Cabrini General Practice offers a wide range of health services including skin checks, immunisations and vaccinations, full medical checks, pathology, referrals, wound dressing and women’s health checks and testing.

Cabrini General Practice is located at 992 Glen Huntly Road in Caulfield South. The Practice is open 8.30 am to 6 pm Monday to Friday and 8.30 am to 11 am on Saturday. Children under 16 are bulk-billed during the week and there is a discount for pensioners.
