Cardiac patients got to experience Cabrini’s new Gandel Wing for the first time this week.

One of the first patients to stay in the cardiac ward of the new Gandel Wing was 84-year-old Astrid Rodrigues.

Ms Rodrigues was settling into her new surrounds after having an angiogram.

“It is fantastic,” she said of her new room.

“It’s very comfortable and spacious and I have everything I need.

“This building is so beautiful I might not want to go home.”

Ms Rodrigues has been receiving treatment at Cabrini for 20 years and said she had always received the best of care.

“The specialists here are very good and I can receive all of my treatment in the one place, which is very convenient for me,” she said.

“It is not just the immediate care you receive but also the aftercare and additional assistance with things like the gymnasium and other services. I come to Cabrini to do heart exercises, which help keep me in good health.”

“Cabrini is keeping me alive and for that I am very grateful.”
