Welcome to Cabrini Research
Cabrini Research was founded in 1996 as the research arm of Cabrini Health by the inaugural Institute Director Associate Professor Doug Lording AM – who recognised if Cabrini Health was to grow and continue to offer state-of-the-art healthcare and attract the best and brightest clinicians, they had to make a commitment to fostering and encouraging a research culture in the hospital and support the clinicians who had novel research ideas and the ambition to test them.
Today, our breakthroughs have saved countless lives and made significant improvements in how we deliver healthcare in a modern age.
Our Leadership
Cabrini Research is guided by scientists, clinicians, and professionals, leading and shaping their respective fields.
Our research committee is made up of leaders across medical, research, and business sectors and advises on key strategic decisions while ensuring alignment with organisational priorities shared across the Cabrini Health network.
The Scientific Advisory Committee reviews all research activities undertaken at Cabrini, offering insights through a collective knowledge base that spans across disciplines and modalities from basic through to translational and clinical research.

Central to this is a commitment to not only serve the needs of the present, but also those of the future, leading to Cabrini’s unique values-based approach to research.
Despite the challenges presented over the past number of years, we have made significant progress towards our strategic objectives as outlined in Cabrini Health’s 2021-2025 Strategy.

Our History
For nearly three decades, Cabrini Research has grown into the unique private research ecosystem we are known to be today.
Founded in 1996, Cabrini Research emerged through the dedication of our inaugural Institute Director, Associate Professor Doug Lording AM. Recognised for his work in endocrinology and andrology, his tireless efforts laid the foundations for what has become a multi-disciplinary private research institute, boasting a unique patient-focused culture.
In 2021, Cabrini Research celebrated its 25th anniversary. Today it continues to build upon Professor Lording’s original vision that a culture of research is central to attracting the very best clinicians, and as a result, the highest standards of clinical care.
