What you need to know
- 12-month program with ongoing contract – with February and April 2027 intakes
- 30.4 hours per week Malvern General Nursing and Brighton Perioperative, OR
- 32 hours per week Malvern Perioperative
- Two clinical rotations OR direct entry to 12-month perioperative services graduate year
- Direct entry to 12-month Midwifery Graduate Year
- Double Degree Nursing & Midwifery Graduate Year Program delivered over 15 months
- Open to newly graduating registered nurses and enrolled nurses that have not undertaken a prior graduate program since AHPRA registration
- You must have AHPRA registration prior to the commencement date of your graduate year
- Visa sponsorship is unavailable
- You must hold Australian citizenship, New Zealand citizenship permanent residency, or a working visa with unrestricted working rights
- Applications close 5 July 2026

Our program - built by past graduates for today's graduates
Join our Graduate Nurse Program to access a full range of learning experiences supported by a talented and robust team of educators, some who have been Cabrini graduates themselves.
Through your 12-month or 15-month program and beyond, we will provide you access to 1:1 education to set you on the path to becoming confident in your practice and on your way to a successful career.
Our program centres on creating the best pathway for you, which is why we work hard to match you with one of your preferences in your rotations.

General Nursing Graduate rotations
Your individually tailored program offers four days of work each week and is supported by supernumerary and interactive Graduate study days.
There is extensive clinical, educational and preceptor support to increase your knowledge and skills and foster your professional development.
Program delivery sits across 3 dynamic sites, Malvern, Brighton and Elsternwick which hosts the Women’s Mental Health rotation.
Across the General Graduate stream you will have the opportunity to work in two rotations.
| Acute Cardiac Services Acute cardiac wards caring for patients with cardiac medical conditions and caring for patients post cardiac procedure such as Cardiac Angiograms, thoracic and post Cardiothoracic procedures. |
Acute Gastroenterology & Gastrointestinal Surgery Acute medical and surgical ward specialising in caring for patients recovering from gastrointestinal surgery or with acute gastroenterology conditions. |
Acute Gerontology Medical Acute medical ward specialising in care for patients with acute and chronic medical conditions. |

| Colorectal, Hepatobiliary and Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery Acute surgical ward specialising in caring for patients recovering from major and complex colorectal, hepatobiliary, and upper gastrointestinal surgery. |
Emergency Department A second rotation in the Emergency Department focussed on providing care to patients presenting with acute medical conditions and orthopaedic trauma. |
General Surgical Acute surgical ward providing care to patients with a wide range of general, ENT, orthopaedic, plastics and breast surgical conditions. |

| Intensive Care A second rotation in the Intensive Care Unit focused on providing care to patients receiving intensive care support. |
Nurse Pool Medical and Surgical Specialising in caring for patients with a broad range of medical and surgical illnesses across a variety of wards. |
Oncology and General Medical ward Acute oncology and general medical ward specialising in care for patients with oncology and haematology conditions and general medical conditions. |

| Oncology & Haematology Acute oncology and haematology ward specialising in caring for patients with a wide range of haematological and cancer illnesses across the spectrum of their haematology and oncology experience. |
Orthopaedic and Neurology Short Stay Surgery Acute surgical wards specialising in caring for postoperative patients who have had orthopaedic and neurology surgery requiring a shorter hospital stay. |
Orthopaedic Surgery and Neurosurgery Acute surgical wards specialising in caring for postoperative patients who have had joint replacements, neurosurgery, or intracranial procedures. |

| Palliative and Supportive Care A Palliative Care Unit providing support and multidisciplinary care to patients across their continuum of terminal care. |
Perioperative Thirty operating suites at Malvern and five at Brighton, plus endoscopy suites. The main operations at Malvern involve cardiothoracic, gynae, ortho, colorectal, vascular, urology and general surgery. For Brighton, ortho, urology and plastics. |
Rehabilitation Specialising in the care and rehabilitation of post-surgical and medical patients that are requiring rehabilitation to increase their functional activities of daily living (Cabrini Brighton). |

| Respiratory, Infectious Disease and Medical Acute ward caring for patients with acute and chronic respiratory, infectious diseases and medical conditions. |
Short Stay Medical and Surgical Acute medical and surgical ward specialising in care for patients with acute surgical and medical conditions. |
Stroke and Neurological Acute medical ward specialising in care for patients post stroke, Parkinson’s Disease, M.N.D, epilepsy and acute medical conditions. |

| Vascular and Plastic Surgery Acute Surgical ward specialising in caring for patients that are having plastic, reconstructive, cosmetic or vascular surgical procedures. |
Women’s Mental Health Inpatient and community programs for women are delivered. Compassionate care is provided for women experiencing mood disorders, addiction, burnout and stress and complex trauma. |

Details of two recent acute placement clinical referees including, name, position title, email address and phone number

Two most recent Clinical Assessment Placement Reports (would prefer these reports from your acute placements)

Certified copies of your academic transcript – you can get these certified at your local chemist (please provide the key to understanding these academic results)

Streams:
- Apply Registered Nurses (if you are a Double Degree Nurse/Midwife apply in the Midwives section)
- Apply Enrolled Nurse (your preferences are unavailable in the specialty areas, such as periop, mental health, cardiac, oncology and midwifery)
- Apply Midwives

Shortlisted candidates will be emailed an invite to participate in an on-site Cabrini Graduate Discovery and Assessment Day. This will involve team assessments, an interview, a hospital tour, and an opportunity to network with our current and past graduates, educators, nurse managers and other Cabrini leaders.
