New theatres taking shape for 2026

Cabrini Malvern’s ground floor building works are now entering the final stages, with the four new theatres and cardiac catheter lab well on track to be fully operational by the end of April 2026.
“I’m excited to let the Cabrini community know we are now past halfway on our build”, said Executive Director, Louise Alexander.
“Back in September we were completing the filtration systems, gas and electrical work and beginning the internal walls and adjoining roof – but just three months later we now have all internal walls and roofing in place and even the majority of equipment installed in some of the theatres (pictured below),” she said.
“As the build progresses, our perioperative services team is busy recruiting new staff, ordering new equipment and planning new theatre lists for our surgeons. There is still a lot of work to be done before we’re fully operational, but it is getting much closer.
“We can’t wait to share our modernised facilities and expanded services with the community in 2026,” she said.
The works are part of Cabrini’s ‘Next Era’ redevelopment project, designed to meet increased patient demand in areas of cardiology, oncology, and orthopaedic surgery.
